What’s Missing from This Room?

Ever walk into a room, and just have the feeling that something is missing? Not meaning something that was there before and is now gone, but something that “should” be there but isn’t. This is a common predicament that interior decorators face. No room can ever be complete, just like a work of art, it is seldom finished, but rather left alone once the artist feels its potential has been reached. However, in the home, there are a lot of simple solutions that can dress up a room and make it look more complete.

One of the most common aspects of interior decorating that isn’t addressed is the vertical appeal of a space. A room can have all kinds of great furniture and a well laid out floor plan, but be missing a lot in terms of its vertical appeal. Now this doesn’t mean mirrors on the ceiling and glow in the dark stellar shapes, we’re talking about the walls! People seldom address their walls, and most homes are bereft of home wall décor. The truth is, home wall décor completes a space, and there are a lot of items that can be used as wall décor including rugs, pictures, and sculptures. Don’t be afraid to get creative with wall shelves and even lighting sconces, as these objects bring vertical character to the space.
