When people buy a new house, they typically focus their creative sensibilities on renovating the interior design. That approach doesn’t necessarily make sense as most people who pass by the home will never see the inside. It’s the exterior décor that will become a topic of conversation; the design elements outside the house create a valuable first impression.
Rather than foisting a foreign theme on the home, take advantage of its natural design attributes and the setting. If you live near a large body of water, try incorporating a nautical theme. Decorative birdhouses shaped like lighthouses are a particularly charming touch. You could also play up the maritime décor by propping an old rowboat against the side of the garage and putting a pair of crossed paddles above the main entryway.
Perhaps your trying to bring a particular room back to life. Something might just be missing – right! That decorative piece just might be that brilliant Vase – either by itself or with a colorful, fragrant bunch of flowers. A room with flowers is alive and fresh. That favorite vase can be that mandatory component that completes the overall fashion scheme of your home.
No matter what theme you have, Vases input flavor to any home that is suffering from a lack of decorative elegance. They come in variety of shapes, sizes, and detailed carvings. No matter what the weather is outside, vases create a warm and lovely climate inside. Yes, they have been used as center pieces, for weddings, any important business function, over mantles, in bathroom center pieces, dining room tables etc… Could be pottery, spun bamboo, beautiful glass accents, duo tones, striped, or mosaic.
Vases have been included as fashion statements and decorations since ancient eras. These beautiful pieces of decor represent ancient cultures through the depiction of time, adding that little something special, where before there was an empty space just waiting to filled. Just think of it this way - vases provide the spice of fashion you pictured without stretching the pocketbook.
Indoor plant stands are a way to show those gorgeous plants you purchased or grew yourselves. Around our home we use a variety of shapes and sizes to fit a variety of beautiful, fragrant plants and flowers. If you are looking to create a restful, natural atmosphere in your home, plant stands are ideal as they help you to arrange your plants to achieve the look you desire. They also make the task of changing plants easier.
There are small stands for small plants to be arranged on a variety of places in your home or office. They can be designed to fit on a bench-top or sunny window. Just a thought – what about the ideal stand to hold herbs used in cooking, making those delicious additions to your cuisine readily available.
A practical and commonly sought after stand is the ’single combination’ which consists of three stands, each of a similar design but in different heights. This design is the ideal choice for empty spaces and corners. They are also the best design to display long flowing stemmed plants to their best effect. Our home and office contain a variety of stands with a variety of pot containers showing off different styles and designs and they are interchangeable. Get tired of the same old thing – change it.
Also, many people love hanging plants from their walls. There are a number of dramatic designs to incorporate into your home decor. These make lush accents in any room for excellent eye contact to accentuate your mood and calm the heart.
We can have the most beautiful floors, colorful and comfortable furniture; however, as we look around at eye level our walls are drab. Most people like doing a double take at something unique when walking into a room; isn’t that true? If that’s not the case with us, could we consider our walls as a canvas waiting to be painted? Wall art, canvas, pictures, clocks, murals, mirrors, flowers etc… subsitute attractiveness, warmth, pleasure even memories rather than boring nothingness.
Wall decor for home, office, kitchen, bedroom placed at the correct highth, shape, contour, provides eye catching focal points. In addtion, it does not have to be expensive. One or two appropriately placed wall accents along with something personal, or something around the home, can become something mellow and perhaps add balance to your world. Take for example a person who loves the out doors, a well placed mirror set with a nature scene may by extension paint a picture that transforms our wall to fit where we want to be.

For many years I had planned on adding a sunroom to our beachside home – a place where I could sit peacefully reading a good book or entertain a few guests over a bottle of fine red wine. I’ve always been a wine enthusiast – a tradition that was passed down from my father. The wine cellar in my basement is stocked with bottles of various vintages, but until adding the sunroom I never had a spot to truly enjoy the spirits.
My wife handled the design side of things, suggesting a number of sunroom furnishings that would complement the new space. Not surprisingly, we chose to stick with a wine and grape theme. We found bottle holders, a clock and a few other items that featured the same motif. Lately all of our dinner parties have been a rousing success, and the newly designed sunroom is usually the main topic of conversation.
