With spring here and summer on the way, time spent in the great outdoors is going to become a big part of everyday life. No one likes the bland flavor of a barren yard so I like to spend a lot of time making my yard as hospitable as possible, for both humans and wildlife. This time of year, I tend to focus on the foliage in my garden, but that doesn’t mean that flowers and plants are the only things that add beauty to an outdoor living area.

The addition of garden décor, such as birdfeeders, statues and fountains, will create a unique ambiance and help attract a profusion of wildlife. It’s never boring with the sights and sounds of nature right outside my door. And unlike plants that will die or recede during the frigid winter months, a garden accent will add personality and aesthetics to your backyard throughout the year.

Everyone who visits my house has to get the obligatory tour, and that includes my precious garden. As my pride and joy, my hobby and my sanctuary, my garden is one of my favorite places. As such, I spend a lot of time thinking about how I can make it even more comfortable or enjoyable, not just for me but also for everyone who has the good fortune of visiting it.

One of the first things I discovered when I began with my garden was that decorative birdhouses provide an irreplaceable charm and comfort. Not only is it beautiful on its own, but it also brings a nest of beautiful wildlife for you and your family to enjoy. The beauty is in the utility and in this age of useless products; it is nice find something in which form and function combine to create something spectacular.

For those who live in apartments or maybe a small home a plant stand can add another dimension to your living space.  The specialty of a planter or plant stand doesn’t have to take up precious space and yet indeed personify character.  For example, when you can’t go out than go up instead.  When large is not in character than utilize small and personal and colorful and elegance.  Decorative home accents come in a variety of sizes, colors, shapes and materials such as wrought iron, wood, wicker, porcelain, marble, stone or acrylic.  Any of the above can complement your existing decor pattern.  If you don’t necessarily have one you can create one.

Gorgeous flowers or exceptional foliage such as ivy will certainly add flavor and richness to that empty space.  Here is another idea when a person is allergic to certain types of flowers or natural arrangements, than add any combination of personal items you love to look at and admire.  Multi-tier plant stands can build upwards, thus saving space and still incorporate stray decor accents to impress you, your family and friends.  You see, take them out of a cubby hole and show them off and gaze at what you have just created.

Decorating your yard or garden can be as much fun as decorating the inside of your home.  We love something special to improve and beautify; likewise, the outdoors also needs  love and attention and garden accents can do just that.  It doesn’t have to be elaborate and expensive.  All it takes is one object to intensify what already might be all right but missing that something special.  When looking  outside or coming  home after a long day, seeing a gorgeous yard accent; birdhouse; water fountain; listening to a melody from our favorite wind chime; overlooking a gorgeous sculpture; gazing ball; or perhaps yard stone of choice; can make all the difference in the world and add peace and serenity to your life.

Consider it yard art.  What do you want to see in order to create part of that secret garden.  Your imagination and personal taste will make it happen.  It can be oriental, classical, country, anything adding elegance and bringing a smile to your face.  In a world full of distress, wouldn’t it be nice to sit down in your comfortable chair or swing and gander over your creation.  Just make it happen.

As spring approaches and weather improves most of us begin a mental transformation.  How can we make decorative improvements at a reasonable cost.  Purchasing plants is usually a top priority and than the decision is where to put them.  Hanging plants are generally preferred; however;  other than the ground can I place them as an accent some where.  A suggestion would be wood, metal,  wire basket, or wrought iron plant stands.

These plant stands add a variety of options regarding size, color, different arrangements and tiers, and unique designs.  They can be placed out in the open, again walls, near or next to tables, the decor options are many.  Styles include country charm, multi-tier, multi- wide, verdigris finishes, antiqued, flowered, rustic, or fold able and the list is also many.  Try real plants only, or real and fake together, or substitute something else you  like to see in vacant spaces.  Wouldn’t it be fantastic to see a gorgeous ivy floating down one side and a colorful flower down the other now add your favorite decor accent in the middle.  Outdoors and indoors, a plant stand is a must to improve home decor and make you feel better.

Overlooking someone Else’s yard, as spring approaches, just might give a person the feeling that they have something you don’t have.  If that one thing is a yard accent, that feeling can easily be modified.  That one something special could change the complexity of your attitude.  For example, a pair of colorful flamingos or some garden plaque, a gorgeous bird house or feeder, perhaps a weather vane.  You see, it doesn’t have to be expensive to provide eye appeal and make it greener on your side.

Finding something to enhance your yard will also invite wildlife and that in itself will improve the outdoor setting.  Decorative home accents are as invigorating outdoors and they are indoors.  Don’t be afraid to add something to a fence, or a post, or anything that can make you feel better, relaxed and release stress.  Personal choice is prevalent.  Be proud of your decision and don’t be afraid to experiment.  Like the inside of your home, the outside can also be altered to suite your taste and enjoyment.  Have fun!

As we  look forward  to spring and outdoor decorating could we include the natural beauty of a birdhouse.  Not only to attract natures avian friends and their melodious songs but the aesthetics of an all natural accent in your yard or deck.  Bird Feeders along with decorative birdhouses will surely attract a wide variety of birds that will definitely impact our love of life.

They come in a wide variety of designs that can complement your style of home and certainly add to the overall setting of the outdoors.  If you live by water there are lighthouses, some that look like yachts or beachcomber designs. Perhaps yours is the whimsical look, thatched roof look, firehouse look or just the classical look; it’s yours for the choosing and that’s the beauty of it all.  Whether we live in the city, a farm like environment, a subdivision, an apartment dwelling or whatever, an earth friendly birdhouse will enliven the overall atmosphere of your dwelling.

Most of all the benefits of watching birds cannot be over stated.  We are becoming ever more aware of our environment, surroundings, and the earth as our home and that includes providing a friendly place for birds.  Of course, as we take time to relax after a stressful day these homes and their residents can really be source of  energy and meditation.

Perhaps just optimistic but we’re already thinking garden decor.  Outdoor accents are surprising functional because they don’t warrant the same criteria as indoor accents.  The beauty of a garden accent is that it can an eye catching feature that we love all year around and the variety will fit our budget.  For instance, whimsical statues, frogs on swings, outdoor water fountain structures, table chairs, or  windmills to name just a few can all add style and design and pleasure not only in our garden but also as an overall yard accent.

Wall plaques can also be used in various fashion statements.  Many households place them on their homes, decks, or home made posts of some kind highlighting their names, initials, a personal narrative of some kind providing visual appeal to themselves and others. Eventually, as weather permits,  lattices, yard benches, wrought iron accents will all add a touch of class.  A Victorian garden – think of the possibilities!

People love to enjoy the melodious sounds of wind blowing through the trees and ultimately affecting our deck accents to include windsocks, spinners and wind chimes.  Garden or deck wind chimes can be an excellent way to provide character and charisma to your personal space, adding solace to otherwise a busy environment.  Tranquil sounds plus pleasant eye appeal can help relieve tension and calm the heart.

They come in a variety of fashions from the most common metal to wood, bone, bamboo or stones.  All of which create these beautiful harmonious sounds.  The higher quality chimes can be constructed to bring out loud pristine harmonic tones.  Depending upon which construction material is purchased will produce a very different tone; therefore, adding a personal touch to every household.  Also, the length of the hanging material will affect the sound.  For example, with metal chimes, the longer the metal chime, the deeper the tone.  Whereas, the shorter it is, it could invariably create of higher pitched tone.  In addition, hard metals like steel and aluminum will create sharp tones, whereas softer metals like copper will produce softer, mellow tones.  Ceramic or glass ones are also aesthetically pleasing and are beautiful decorative pieces as well.  If the sounds of rain or perhaps rolling thunder are what your like, than bamboo might be your selection.  Yes, we do have options and wind chimes could be the accent we are looking for to create the perfect mood sensation.
